What happens when you give different persons the same ingredients to prepare a meal?

Will the meal will taste the same?

What if you don’t give them the ingredients? You only tell them to prepare the same meal?

That is where individuality comes in.

Because each of them will prepare it differently. Some might even add spices that others did not use.

It’s the same in writing, there is no one way to write.

Yes, it’s good to listen to people with more experience but keep in mind that your results might not be the same as theirs.

Just as every meal has a common ingredient; maybe water or salt or pepper.

In writing too, there are common ingredients. They are consistency, hard work and most importantly YOU.

You are the final and essential ingredient. You don’t need to make your work an imitation of someone else.

To be a writer, you have to find your own way, make your own mistakes, learn from them, and find out what works for you and what doesn’t.

Your writing needs your thoughts, your experiences, and your emotions.

It needs YOU to be complete.

Because you, dear writer, are a unique ingredient that no other person has.

Never forget that.
